"Listen To My Heart"
by Charlene McCann © 2001

Oft times I feel the hurt and pain
Just can't go on much longer.
Aren't all the trials and tribulations
Supposed to make me stronger?
But this is not what's happening...
My strength is fading fast.
To cope with life much anymore
Is well beyond my grasp.
"Get a grip" some people say
When things are closing in on me;
As if That makes my loss of Mom
An easier path to reality.

My days and nights are all a void.
So many treasures gone forever.
How can I think to carry on
A search for something better?
I think the thing that hurts the most;
Besides Mom's passing on.
Is that there's no one there for me
To help when all seems gone...
So if you know someone whose lost
A loved one very dear,
Be there for them no matter when
They shed those hurting tears...
Give your arms for comfort,
And a listening heart to share
All the grief and all the sorrow
Their shattered life can't bear.
